The router is built to usual triton high standards, i bought it to go with the triton router table i already had, as it is easier than my bosch router to fit and remove for hand held use,, as a triton devotee i plumped for this one, attracted by the price on amazon, as cheaper than elsewhere, but beware, the money i thought i had saved had to be spent on a 1/4 inch collet, as only a 6mm and half inch was supplied with the router, like most woodworkers i have a collection of quarter inch router bits so had to fork out £20 for an additional collet, very disappointed.
I bought this router a little while ago, and felt i simply had to write a response to the review above by jayman, as it’s full of errors. Sounds like he’s not been using properly and has been getting frustrated. Hopefully there’s some advice in here that will help him to use this properly and get the most out of it. I personally think it’s a cracking tool for anyone starting out, especially for the price. (1) by using a light oil spray (wd40) then this would solve the issue of the sticking. When you get any router out of a box for first time most will stick as they are new and need to be worn in – just like a car engine. If you use the oil the router works a treat and this is a little tip you will pick up from a lot of pro’s. It might even be that he is routing in the wrong direction?. The logo should be facing the opposite direction. If the logo is facing you then it will be very stiff when plunging, and make it almost inoperable.
Great bit of kit small and powerful for all the smaller jobs best hand held if setting up on a router table consider the bigger model.
I agree with almost all of what will said about this product in his review of 28 july 2011. I disagree only with the point about the on/off switch; i think the switch is in a slightly awkward position, but that’s hardly a big problem. Otherwise my early impressions are all positive. The bit change is particularly easy, aided by the clever positioning of the power cable which allows the user to stand the router upside down without it wanting to topple over. I have used the fence a couple of times and it is really solid. For clarity, the router comes with the fence and winder handle for adjusting the depth of cut from above the table. I have come across softer starts than this one, but it is still controlable. Only time will tell about the longevity of this machine, but brush changes look like a doddle. All in all, i don’t see a comparable router in this price range.
- Good value for moneybut
- Good if only all advertised parts were included.
- BEWARE no quarter inch collet supplied with this router.

Very powerful, great product from triton once again.
Purchased in june 2016 and although i haven`t used it much, i am well pleased with it so far. This is a heavy well made machine which works and handles well as a plunge router but i will also be mounting it as a table router some router insert plates come pre-drilled for this particular model so fitting to a router table or bench should be easy. I reviewed many similarly priced routers before i bought this one and i think i have made a good choice.
Solid piece of equipment – sounds & feels like it should be £200. Came with a strong wide fence, not the usual bars & clamps really good for panels. Really like the pushin button to lock the spindle which is very easy to access. Weight is light & perfectly balenced and smooth soft start.
Very disappointing – awfull plunge mechanism and depth fine adjustment not working.
Very good router vaue for money for any diy person.
Was going to buy a makita router but matt cremona is sponsored by this company so i had a look. All looked postive so i thought let’s try it. What can i say a dream to work with. This router came with 3 different collars and a winder stick. So when u set ur router depth you have to push down once you release the spring. With this router there is a knob on top which you turn which sets the depth. This makes setting depth a doddle. If you want to make ur own router table the winder stick can be used to set depth from the bottom of the router.
Very pleased with this router. Smouth plunge and just the right weight.
A great router from triton, with an adjustable rod that you can also access from underneath, which makes it excelent for router tables. It is also very easy to change the router bits, since the part that supports the collet goes all the way up (when it’s upside down). Another product bought from amazon wharehouse deals, and another great deal.
This product is very good ,shame it did not come with 1/4 ” collet as all other triton routers but must not complain , i have the big boy to this and it is just great. Not yet used this one yet as it came for xmass. But if its any thing like the bigger brother it will be just fine. They all come with soft start and plenty of power to rout all types of wood.
Love this router feels much more powerful than only 1000w some really handy features like the twist handle for adjust height and the depth stop gauge really really nice product.
Mine came with 6mm, 12mm and 1/2″ collets. I have some 1/4″ bits and had to buy an additional collet, it would have been preferable to supply a 1/4″ one in the package instead of those metric collets. The only other thing that doesn’t work so great is the plunge mechanism, it tends to stick and jerk up and down a bit, but i find that the fine adjustment knob and the supplied table winder make up for this easily, it still deserves 5 stars.
Looks very well made and easy to fit to the triton router table, only four stars as i’ve yet to use it.
The subsequent is the description of this equipment:collets: 1/2”, 12mm & 6mmvariable velocity, delicate commence & safety switchfree plunge & micro winderthrough-base, one-spanner motion bit modify & dust portmulti-operate fence, collet wrench, ext. Baseplate, 3 collets & desk peak winderwell, anything was involved in the box apart from the a few advertised collets. Even the one collet presented was 1/4′. There was no 1/2”, no 12mm & and no 6mm. This would seem to be a prevalent grievance about triton. This is a pity since i like this router sufficient to give it a four. Triton:- get your act jointly.
Very satisfied with this router, nonetheless it has appear with two 50 percent inch collects rather than a fifty percent inch and a quarter inch. Obtaining a way of emailing anyone about this has proved impossibe. Perhaps i will get a response by way of this route. This claimed i am extremely delighted with the solution (would be useful to get a quarter inch obtain) and the obtain was extremely straight forward and productive.
Just obtained my new baby triton and all in all i am pretty amazed. It has all the common triton options, electric power lockout when absolutely depressed ,over and above the foundation little bit chancing and change protection deal with. The device alone appears to be fairly highly effective,it ploughed a 3/4′ x 1/2′ deep trench in stable oak just like heading through butter. But there are two matters that i obtain hard to understand,1 it comes with no facility to use guideline bushes & 2 with 6mm router bits getting really common honest in united kingdom, it looks peculiar that it does’ntinclude a one/4′ collet as conventional. I know you can invest in these factors as optional extras but this pushes the price tag up by at least £50. So with a minimal further believed a really good machine could be a excellent offer.
Appears like triton have been listening, just opened my box and a 1/4 inch collet as very well as the authentic two 1/two inch collets experienced been involved. Lets hope this is the norm and not just one that has just feel into the boxvery delighted with my order.
I bought this router with the triton router table. This unit appears much more powerful than the specified output, and the increase and slide system for the desk is best class. Then occur the ‘buts’ – there are 3 collets in the box 6mm, 12mm and 1/2 inch. The very first two are of no use to me, due to the fact i have a router bit drawer with one/4 inch and one/2 inch cutters. So, i had to buy a 1/4 inch collet at a value of about £20 – and the future purchaser demands to element that into the price tag. Also i located that the plunging action was hesitant and ‘notchy’. I checked on the amazon us web page, and observed numerous individuals experienced the exact same experience and the difficulty is cleared by wd40 – this stopped me sending the device back again as defective. All in all, fantastic benefit for funds.
Triton router appears effectively manufactured and works effectively. Plunging rods a little bit sticky but with a very little oil and a bit of use it is receives less complicated.
