I’ve only sharpened 1 chisel so far and it sharpened it ok. I have some drills to sharpen and if works ok with them i will give it 5 stars.
A good versatile piece of kit.
Not as good as i hoped due to flimsy plastics, but safer than using a bench grinder. Here are the specifications for the Tooltime ® 96W Electric Multi Purpose Bench Mountable Drill Bit:
- HSS Drill Bit Sharpener: Sharpens all high speed steel drill bits from 3mm to 13mm
- Knife and Scissor Sharpener: Sharpens all straight edged knives and scissors
- Chisel and Plane Sharpener: Regrinds chisel and plane blades from 6mm to 51mm wide
- Fitted with standard UK 3 pin plug.
- Holes in the base allow the unit to be bench mounted if required.
Doe’s what it says on the tin,no paperwork was included and supplier says that they cannot supply a copy.
Does what it’s supposed to happy so far only had it 3 days.
Reviews from purchasers :
- It would have been better if these had been of say alloy or other
- Multi-branded Multi purpose tool sharpener review
- great bit of kit
It works perfectly, but this was more a grinder not a sharpener. Used very very softly and still let rough. Still had to get out stone to finish off.
Well i used it today such a easy item to use i did all my blunt drills and broken ones to easy to understand instructions didmy knifes and there now sharp and my chisels too so usefuldelivery great got it befor delivery date nice package to nothing broken.
Read reviews prior to purchase, and agreed in the main with most, that the tool is let down by the plastic used in the main tool holder functions. It would have been better if these had been of say alloy or other more durable material. This would of course increased the cost possibly three fold. Have sharpened every drill ,knife, scissors etc that i own . And the tool does a pretty good job. Make sure the tool is screwed down firmly, and practice the movement required at each station especially the drill item. No hard work required, and lightness of touch in setting up and use is the answer. I found a small amount of light grease on all the moveable and interchangeableparts helped. . The instructions were fairly clear, but was slightly put out by the booklet not listing any makers details. This could be a problem if spare parts or replacements are needed in the future. An email to the suppliers informed me that the tool was of tooltime`s own manufacture, even though i have seen pretty much the same tool offered by other suppliers, albeit with a different color.
Good bit of kit at a good price looks well made.
I’ve delayed reviewing this as i’ve not yet been able to use it, however, first impressions are ‘reasonable’. Construction is sound if ‘plasticky’ and whilst sharpened edges (knives, scissors) no doubt can be achieved, i’m not convinced that accurate, reproducible edges (chisels, plane blades) will be achievable due to possible movement of the attachments in use. They do fit snugly initially but are probably going to vibrate in use. The ‘stone’ is a metal wheel coated with abrasive materiel so i’m not sure about it’s longevity but i suspect that it will be sufficient for the casual diyer. I’ll update this when i’ve more experience with it.
Does what it says happy with it.
I sharpen the cooking knifes.
Sharpens my chisels perfect and the drills not tried it on kitchen knives yet.
It is a bit flimsy in plastic but does the job well.
Purchased for husband to use easy to use tools all sharpened just what he needed.
Not as good as it looks just a single grind stone and have to change sharpner points for what you are doing.
Handy gadget especially for sharpening up those old drills and chisels. It a bit fiddly for very small bits.
It does what it says on the tin.
My husband has sharpened all his drill bits on this machine. Some that were old and he hadn’t used for ages are now ready for use. It didn’t take him long to get used to working it and it is a good addition to his workshop.
I would of given this 5 stars, but the instructions let it down very badly. I have used this type of sharpener before, which is why i am glad i did not have to rely on the instruction, which are pictures only & don’t show the operation of chisels etc. If i purchased this under one of it’s many rebranded names, would i of gotten better instructions. . ??manufacturers please take note of the above. I have used this to sharpen the hardest steel kitchen knives in the drawer & it does the job perfectly well & saves a lot of arm ache from doing them manually. It has a safety feature that if the attachment(s) are not fitted it won’t power on the motor & prevents the wheel from turning. For the reviewer that said they was expecting 3 sharpening wheels, it clearly shows in the pictures that it is only one sharpening wheel & as for the physical compact size & price, i would not expect any more than one sharpening wheel. The fact that all attachments fit on the housing, so they are always at hand is great as when not in use you can store them altogether & nothing will get lost in the depths of the place you store it in, is a bonus. The one i have is spark free, because of the diamond cutting wheel. There are magnets on the slider for chisels etc, but do not rely on them as they are not very strong.
Bought this for my husband for christmas he is pleased with it and can’t wait to sharpen his chisels.
