Silverline 521333 – 135W DIY 1/3 Sheet Orbital Sander 230V – Basic sanding machine

The switch to lock sander in the ‘on’ position does not work and sanding sheets not long enough and tear off.

Great budget equipment, does exactly what you need it for.

I only brought a cheap one cos it probably wont get used when i have finished my table, it works well does its job and has been working very hard this weekend and its still going.

  • The switch to lock sander in the “on” position does
  • Good price but don’t expect much
  • Excellent for the price

Works very well on general decoration and small works, ideal for the home handyman and d i y specialist.

Not the most sophisticated product but for the price, excellent and sands just fine. Recommended for any diyer wanting a cheap sander.

Features of Silverline 521333 – 135W DIY 1/3 Sheet Orbital Sander 230V

  • Sheet size 93 x 230 mm
  • Lever sheet attachment
  • Vacuum dust extraction port
  • For light sanding and finishing
  • Weight: 1.4 kg

Just used it the once but it did the job required. It will only be used occasionally for diy projects and therefore is ok for my needs. For economy i’ll cut sandpaper to size rather than buy bespoke sheets.

For the price, the sander is excellent . A real d i y sander for use about ten times a year.

Why pay a fortune when you can have this. It’s amazing value for money and does the job as well as any other.

Absolutely brilliant, great quality produce great results, superb addition to my wife’s tool box .

Very good price and does the job as well as my old black and decker, i recommend toanyone ok.

The sander i ordered arrived very quick, for the price i paid the product is great,it did all i wanted it to do. Fast delivery, value for money, and no walking around shops fantastic.

Was needed for a small job and did as well as most of my old expensive sanders did.

Good price but don’t expect much. The motor start to break down in a few weeks of using it. But again for this price i guess its ok.

The spring wires are not very strong so the paper can sometimes slip.

I bought this tool as a small job tool. I had read most of the bad reviews wondering what sort of use this sander was being asked to do. It is not a large, ridged work horse by any means but a well made, cheap end sander fit for any small to medium diy sanding task. Quick delivery with secure packaging by the company. Don’t believe all you read in these reviews use them as a guide, think about what you want a tool to do and spend accordingly.

Cannot use it due to the sander sheets supplied with the item boxed would not stay in place. The firms suggested replacement sheets bought were the same.

Good value for money no frills machine. The revue wants thirteen more words, but there is nothing else to say.

Great little sander, managed to sand a whole shed with ease & product does exactly as described, well priced and easy to change sandpaper. Initially though about hiring a sander for the day but the hire price was identical to purchasing this one new. I just brought regular sandpaper and cut it to size – worked perfectly well.

Great tool and very robust, highly recommended.

Magic bit of kit – much more agile and useable than the expensive larger sander i’ve got, gets used all the time in lieu of the alternative here.

    1. According to manufacturers write-up hook & loop sanding sheets can be used. This is a falsehood can only use sheets for clip attachment. Should have gone for a better model.

It’s ok for a cheap product, you get what you pay for. Not suitable for heavy duty stuff.

If you are thinking of buying this to do whats its supposed to do, that is sand wood, then forget it. Its totally rubbish, after about 30 mins of very light sanding of plywood it started to make a funny noise, even with the hoover attached. After about 45 minutes it started smoking, and after about 1 hour it totally stop working. A waste of money, not fit for purpose.

    1. It worked very well when i got it but it didn’t take long for the on/off button to stop working.

I really don’t understand how a chinese?. Factory, a shipper, an importer, amazon and royal mail can combine to put this product on my doorstep for under fourteen quid. Yes, the paper clamps are a tad feeble, but otherwise a simple and sturdy machine which does what it says on the tin. Have just spent four hours sanding a tired large picnic table, and apart from a few changes of ripped paper, the unit has completed a tough job with flying colours. Top marks at this price, can totally recommend.

      1. I needed a sander in a hurry to correct a piece of painting work that had gone horribly wrong. It was not heavy paint, just a bit of spray paint that had sprayed too far, but it had dried and sanding was the only way to go, so i wanted something inexpensive that would be delivered by amazon prime. I read the poor reviews but i was convinced that my little task would hardly put much pressure on it. Wrongfirst off (in the order of discovery) i read the instructions and found that the connection to the vacuum cleaner mentioned in the product description wasn’t optional but compulsory, because the dust can damage the sander if there’s no vacuum cleaner connected. The black vacuum cleaner connection shown in the photo at the back of the sander is in a separate package and you insert it into the rear. Unfortunately it and my vacuum cleaner didn’t connect – wrong sizes – so i took a cardboard toilet roll centre and fitted that over the black attachment and my vacuum cleaner tube with tape. The toilet roll tube held, the vacuum cleaner held, but the special silverline attachment kept falling out of the sander.Short of superglue i have no idea how to get the silverline attachment to stay in the silverline sander.

This is a very adequate tool for light use at an excellent price. Jamieson notes in her review, the weakest point is the arrangement for gripping the sandpaper. This stuff in any case tends to be brittle, and easily tears away from the cheap and cheerful bent wire gripper. I have found that an adequate fix for this is to reinforce the paper at then ends with sticky tape. Tape up on both sides the parts of the paper that go up and into the gripper, but not so far as to go under the vibrating plate. Duct tape is probably best, but even electricians tape seems to to a passable job of extending the paper’s working life.
