Record Power RPBG6 Bench Grinder 6-inch : nice and quiet now

Bought a 150w bench grinder from aldi and had to send it back after attaching a copper brush for getting rid of rust. As soon as i started using the brush, the machine would grind to a halt. The record power one doesn’t do this. Very powerful and a great guarantee. I also have the more powerful version of the same, but 8′. They ae both worth the money. Great price from amazon as well.

Bought this to sharpen my wood turning chisels, works a treat the stones are well balanced so there’s minimal vibration. Very happy would definitely recommend.

Record Power RPBG6 Bench Grinder 6-inch

  • Powerful 370-watt induction motor
  • Adjustable tool rests
  • Compact design
  • Smooth running
  • Holds two wheels

Very good grinder only one thing wrong it’s not made in england come on record. Let’s no go down the cheap and nasty road.

It does the job that i bought it for, took the feet off and bolted it down on a thick plank of wood to stop it vibrating runs quite now,.

As a medium duty grinder, this model performs well. The motor runs smoothly and the wheels are wobble-free. What lets it down are the spark guards- they are poorly designed, cheaply made and the fixings are totally inadequate- hence i had to supply my own. The only other comment is that the instruction leaflet is written in a blend of mandarin and english. How much extra would it have cost to have had it checked by someone fluent in english?. Overall, the unit is worth £50-60 in my opinion.

Record Power RPBG6 Bench Grinder 6-inch : The grinder i received ran true, without any significant vibration, straight from the box. The only issue is the fact that the tool rest flanges are part of the wheel guard and i had to saw them off in order to use a separate sharpening jig – hence four stars. Build is slightly better than others of a similar price i had considered.

At £69 with a 5 year garantee a good buy, both wheels run true. The perspex shields are very thin and flimsy.

Not industrial standard, guards and rests a litle flimsy. Once running has plenty of power. Easier to get smooth square surface on wide wheel when grinding chisels.

This product did not live up to my expectations, the tool rests are inadequate, they cannot be angled for chisel sharpening whilst being kept close to the grinding wheels. The spark guard fitting is poor and the wide wheel did not run ‘true’.

Supply good but no invoice supplied.

Wasn’t my first choice but works well, the aluminum oxide wheel is on the right not as shown in picture. Need to balence the wheels with paper packers, nice and quiet now.

Not as well made as i would have expected from record but i soon found out why. Shame on you this reduces my opinion of you and you should stop this immeadiatly.

  1. I ordered one of these (not from amazon) and when i put it together i discovered that both wheels were so out of true, had i run the machine, it may well have shaken itself to pieces. I might have been able to dress the wheels, to give them a flat grinding surface, but there’s nothing i could have done to stop the side to side wobble. I also found that it had been supplied with the wrong flanges (great word) it should have two 16mm and two 13mm flanges but all four were 16mm. This means that the two that fit over the threaded part of the shaft are too bigi phoned record power about this and, to be honest, that was a waste of time. I returned it to the supplier for a refund and not a replacement. I also found out that it has been discontinued and what is available is stock still out there. Reviews don’t always reflect an item that accurately but read the one star reviews and you see a pattern on this item, mostly about the poor wheels. As the wheels are probably the most costly item, or at least replacement ones are, then clearly this is where the manufacturer is cutting the cost.

  2. Both wheels were completely out of true. Very noisy and really bad vibration so i sent it back. These are no longer on record power site. Maybe i was unlucky but as amazon won’t pay all of the return postage i wasn’t going to chance asking for a replacement.
