Record Power BS250 Benchtop Bandsaw : Runs very nicely and quitetly and cuts well once you tune it

I have recently purchased a record bs2500 which i am delighted with and these blades are spares so i have not used them yet but they look ok and were delivered on time.

It did arrive with damage to the motor housing, rather than get into the problems of trying to get it sorted through the carrier and amazon, i removed the cover took off the broken fin hammered the casing into the round again, put back together still missing the third screw. The blurb you get into how well its balanced out on the wheels, is a bit off, it vibrates, that’s my one, not by much but if you are doing really fine work with hands on, you have to take several bites to get it right.

This is s very nice saw, light weight and compact enough to fit in a small workshop or shed yet man enough for most jobs it is required to undertake. It is much more solid than many smaller so called hobby saws.

Great saw, poor packaging. . This is a really good bandsaw for the price. Quiet, powerful for its size and easy to set up. As others have mentioned, the packaging is very poor. Mine arrived with a pushed in motor housing which was in contact with the aluminium fan blades of the motor. I had to remove the cover before use and knock it back into shape from the inside using a rubber mallet and a block of wood. The casing was also scuffed. It’s a shame record power seem to think a single layer of cardboard is good enough to protect a 33kg machine.

  • great band saw for the price.
  • Runs very nicely and quitetly and cuts well once you tune it
  • Delighted with product – eventually

Record Power BS250 Benchtop Bandsaw

  • Designed for bench mounting
  • Dynamically balanced bandwheels
  • Cast iron tables and an induction motor
  • 120 mm depth of cut
  • Bench or floor mountable

Runs very nicely and quitetly and cuts well once you tune it. Brought this as my first bandsaw after reading a number of reviews. Runs very nicely and quitetly and cuts well once you tune it up. If your planning on doing any resawing invest in a 1/2 inch blade with 4 tpi. Just a shame about packaging.

Very good value for money. . Very good machine easy to use pity machine was damaged on delivery but rest of machine was very good this was the first large saw i had bought and was impressed with the record bs 250 very easy to setup and good value for money.

Delighted with product – eventually. So let’s get it out of the way, the first one i ordered arrived broken, not just a bit dented but the casting that the motor screws into was snapped off. Amazon replaced it and the second one arrived 2 days later. Sadly this too was broken but it was something that i could live with and didn’t compromise the use of the machine. Amazon are collecting the first by courier and i am not expecting to have to pay for it’s return. On to the machine, took about 45 mins to set up and adjust which i think is ok, nothing difficult just a bit fiddly but the instructions are decent enough. I didn’t buy the optional stand so then had to fashion a bench for it to sit on, something between normal table height and a footstool seems about right. I wouldn’t pay nearly £100 for the optional stand but, i would pay £50 and i’ve seen some bundles on other sites. The blade is often considered the weak element on new machines (so i read) but for me it seems to do what i need, i am not going to change it until i have to. Cutting anything from 3mm plywood through to about 4 inch fencepost all with ease.

Great band saw, and a very handy set up dvd enclosed, you must take your time and set everything as perfect as possible, very important that it is bolted down well, and the correct bench height set (not to high is critical). If ordering on line insist that it is in a better box than the factory one, i finally got an undamaged one after 3 deliveries, (amazon was excelent at sorting re deliverys out).

Arrived in record time 😉 with standard delivery. Now the dreaded packaging that got me twitching a bit due to reviews but def improved (in my case) added corner protection over box and quite well wrapped, wouldn’t survive a a fall but enough for the expected bumps and skids that will happen on journey and about 20 fragile stickers added that even the most tired driver couldn’t miss. Inside packaging also good enough. For a small saw it packs a good weight and lifting is possible, just but far far far from portable & hernia expected if have to lift it again, luckily unlikely. The table is good and worth maintaining. The fence bit better than expected mitre fence just as expected but they would work if didn’t go for own diy made ones. Setting up was easy enough and very good instructions inside that doesn’t require google translator. Comes with blade fitted but its a must that you get good blade made for whatever its being used for. The one supplied is enough to set it up and check all is working.

Read about the dusty packing and dented motors, so managed to track one down at a local saw shop (they were on 30 day lead at the time) and all appeared fine. Couldn’t get a straight cut out of the flimsy stock blade (garbage). Been through a couple of tuffsaw premium blades in over a year, but always struggled to get them up to any tension. The plastic handle on the tensioner broke so i use a bit of steel to turn it. Have since found that the trim bolt (for the wheel angle) and hole had stripped threads (m6). Have just drilled it and tapped an m8 thread and new bolt instead on the trim, so now able to push it to much higher tension and trim the wheel appropriately. Getting a much straighter cut than ever now. I gather this it’s a much more solid body than most saws around this price, but not without its flaws. You can get a good job out of it.

Just got this for my small home workshop. Straight out of the box it felt and looked like a quality buy. Have bought record power tools before and they are always good quality. I thought i might have some difficulty setting it up as you need to do some building of the bandsaw as it is only partially done to allow for easy packaging. The instructions were very easy to understand. The machine is heavier than expected but it is because of the high build quality. My first cuts were on softwood 45mm deep and they were perfect. I was surprised how quiet the machine is. It is a perfect compliment to my workshop and i cant wait to use it for the many jobs coming up.

In general i am happy with the purchase, but i have had a problem with the delivery, because the machine does not work, probably it suffered a hit.

The first one i ordered was damaged on arrival. I am amazed that amazon are still sending these out in the inadequate record box given how often these are reported damaged to them and the huge value of the item being sent. Still, to give them their due, they sent out a new one sharpish. This kind of customer service is to be applauded. However, they assured me the new one would be sent out better packed – but it wasn’t. As luck would have it, the second one survived intact. The box was damaged, but in a place which did not affect the bandsaw. I have submitted a product packaging feedback form, but don’t have high hopes anything will change in that department.

Top marks – wonderful machine. Don’t even think of buying any other make (especially the awful clarke machines from machine mart – why do people buy clarke?.Cuts beautifully, cleanly and smoothly with very little effort – but i am cutting plywood and i changed the blade that came with it to a dakin flathers (made in uk) 14tpi blade at 3/8″ width – perfect for plywood. Record power sell this direct at a much cheaper price than amazon.

Great band saw for the price. . Despite arriving with one of the door knobs broken (small black plastic fitment round the metal handle) – the door still closes and the cut out switch still engages, i think it’s a lovely bit of kit. Setting it up, while not hard, was a bit fiddly (talking about making sure blade is spot on here) simply because being new to woodworking shop tools means i’ve got no reference points. Still think i need to refine the set up a bit as i seem to get a wandering cut now and then, but i’m certainly not going to blame the bandsaw for my failings. It’s solid as a rock, nice and quiet and smooth in operation and has a good depth and height of cut. Softwoods and hardwoods (mahogany so far in my case) cut with no problem. I’ve got a record power mini lathe too and that’s equally as well made and finished. No problems recommending this to anyone – especially if your just starting out doing stuff with wood. Oh, and while i’m at it, i did contact amazon about the damage on arrival, and was offered either full refund, replacement or a healthy 15% refund on the price which worked out at over £40 – which is the option i took as i said it still works fine and i’m sure a replacement handle would be far less than that anyway.

Record power bs250 benchtop bandsaw. I researched this product before i purchased. This machine is ideal for anyone with limited space, it is much better constructed than most other band saws of similar price. This machine was delivered on time, and was well packaged, so did not have any serious knocks. Setting up the machine takes a little time, but when done, runs well. I am pretty sure i made the right choice, as i have used this saw a few hours on different type projects with good resultsso, i have awarded five stars, co’s i am completely happy with my purchase. Must dash, can’t wait to push the green buttontony harveysomerset.

Outstanding bit of package built to a pretty substantial conventional. Delivery was spot on by amazon.

Delighted with product – at some point. So let us get it out of the way, the initially one particular i purchased arrived damaged, not just a bit dented but the casting that the motor screws into was snapped off. Amazon replaced it and the next a person arrived two times afterwards. Unfortunately this too was broken but it was one thing that i could live with and failed to compromise the use of the machine. Amazon are collecting the initially by courier and i am not expecting to have to fork out for it really is return. On to the machine, took about 45 minutes to established up and alter which i assume is okay, practically nothing challenging just a little bit fiddly but the guidance are first rate more than enough. I did not get the optional stand so then experienced to vogue a bench for it to sit on, one thing involving regular table top and a footstool would seem about correct. I would not fork out approximately £100 for the optional stand but, i would pay £50 and i’ve viewed some bundles on other web sites. The blade is normally regarded the weak component on new devices (so i examine) but for me it seems to do what i have to have, i am not likely to adjust it right up until i have to. Chopping just about anything from 3mm plywood by to about 4 inch fencepost all with simplicity.

Exactly what was ordered and arrived promptly. Will purchase again when needed, ideally not also quickly but you by no means know.

Amazon sent this in tremendous brief time, 7. 30am the working day after buying. I was anxious about the motor getting weakened following examining quite a few evaluations on the internet about inadequate packaging, but i am happy to say it was fine and to be honest i think the packaging was ample. Assembly was simple with the supplied manual, but be conscious you will need to have a consider sq. for placing the table and rip fence, a slot screwdriver and a 10mm spanner/socket. Hex keys for placing the bearings are supplied. Altering the bearing guides is a little bit of a faff, but then this appears to be the scenario on most bandsaws. The machine itself is really solid, designed from quite hefty gauge metal and has a high-quality ‘feel. ‘ the motor is really clean and remarkably tranquil, i would be joyful to use this late at night time with out worry of bothersome the neighbours.

It did get there with injury to the motor housing, somewhat than get into the difficulties of hoping to get it sorted as a result of the provider and amazon, i taken off the address took off the damaged fin hammered the casing into the spherical once again, put back again with each other continue to missing the 3rd screw. The blurb you get into how very well its well balanced out on the wheels, is a bit off, it vibrates, which is my a person, not by considerably but if you are accomplishing seriously fantastic get the job done with arms on, you have to take many bites to get it proper.

Fantastic band saw, and a extremely helpful set up dvd enclosed, you will have to get your time and established anything as best as possible, pretty significant that it is bolted down nicely, and the correct bench top set (not to superior is significant). If purchasing on line insist that it is in a far better box than the factory one particular, i finally acquired an undamaged 1 right after 3 deliveries, (amazon was excelent at sorting re deliverys out).

Very pleased with my purchase – recommended. I bought this as a ‘newbie’ to both record power and to bandsaws, but am very impressed. I had intended buying from amazon, but didn’t in the end, so cannot vouch for the delivery etc. As you may expect with anything worthwhile, it takes a little time and effort to assemble and set up (and in my case, change the supplied blade for one more suited to my need), but after about 90 mins i had both set it up, tested it, and learned a lot about both the operation and maintenance of this tool. First off, it feels very sturdy and well-made. Secondly, the instuctions are written in beautiful, clear english, not like they have been run through an online translator. Thirdly, there is advice included on different blades and the advantages of each (more/fewer teeth per inch, broad/thin blades etc) so if you hadn’t read up on bandsaws, or know about them already, you have the information clear to hand. Finally, perhaps the main point for many of us,. It’s not loud, seems to hold its line when cutting, has an easily-adjustable fence and table, and is easily adjusted to meet different needs, from replacing the blade to adjusting the jaw height for different thicknesses of materials to cut.

Nice looking product but came with a dent in the motor cowling and poor fitting top and bottom doors.
