Einhell BG-PC 4040 Petrol Chainsaw : Excellant

Perfect for cutting logs on a metal horse. Won’t cut massive trees but this is not what it was made for. It is easy to set up but if you get it wrong it doesn’t work. This is your fault not the chainsaws.

We bought this saw as a suppliment to our smaller einhell 3735 saw which is still going after 4 years of good use. This saw came well packaged and was easy to assemble, it is essentail for all chainsaws to have the correct chain lubricant, we use the oregen prodoct, it is also adviseable to have the correct grease and grease gun to lubricate the front sprocket. This saw feels quite a bit larger than the 3735, once the fuel was pumped through to the carb via the priming bulb the first start up was attempted, the engine was a little slow to pull the fuel through but once running it was fine. Cold starts for the next 2 days were always acheived within 3 pulls. The saw really gets stuck into the larger logs that we now have to tackle, we are very happy with this saw and it represents good value at £159.

As advertised good for all small trees and logging. Easy to assemble, started second pull. Would not recommend as pro model but excellent for diyer.

I’ve used this several times now and it seems to be holding it’s own. It starts easy and cuts branches and trees extremely well. It’s fairly light and easy to use. If i had to buy a chain sas again i’d buy this one.

  • Very happy with Einhell 2245 chainsaw
  • Cracking little chainsaw for the money.
  • Great chainsaw

Einhell BG-PC 4040 Petrol Chainsaw with Autochoke and 40 cm Oregon Bar – Red

  • High quality components, rail and chain from Oregon
  • Anti-vibration design cushions shocks and reduces user fatigue
  • Chain brake/hand guard – stops the chain within milliseconds in case of kickback
  • Chain catch – prevents from risks of chain jumping off cutter rail
  • Split shaft for easy transport and space-saving storage

Found it easy to use and the cut was great. Will submit a further report after more serious use.

Have been very pleased with the einhell chainsaw. Havent experienced any of the problems stated in the reviews. Has paid for itself over and over. We had a wood burner fitted last autumn and after buying several bags of wood decided to purchase the einhell chainsaw and cut our own. 3 tonnes + of wood later and its never let us down and still going strong.

No problems and it looks good in my shed when not in use. Gardener likes it for cutting logs for my woodstove.

Excellent saw for smaller work especially cutting up firewood. Very good value in comparison to other similar size saws.

There are many chainsaws on the market at different price points. This stood out as being particularly good value. In use it’s very reliable, easy to operate and performs well with the supplied chain. Occasionally it’s a bit reluctant to start, but this is usually down to over-priming. It generally starts better if you don’t prime at all.

Brill little chainsaw for the money. Being german the quality is decent and well worth the price paid for it.

Instructions not particularly helpful, but with a bit of patience, worked out what went where. After working out how to start the chainsaw – pump primer 10x and pull out choke, turn ‘on’ switch on, pull starter cord twice, push in choke and then pull starter cord a further 3x, the chainsaw should start. Which it has done without any problem. Have cut logs in excess of 14 inches and it has cut through without hesitation. For me, as a beginner, this is a great chainsaw. An experienced groundsman who knows chainsaws inside and out commended the build quality and chain quality.

This saw out performs many more expensive tools , i have used it for tree felling & logging & am impressed with performance.

Love it, lighter than i thought it would be, but perfect for small, light branches, very good for the money, deliveredone day before time, regards ronnie.

Fantastic value for money , faultless.

Starts perfectlylightsuits me for firewood and all branch size cuttingeasy to handlegives one confidence in feeling safergerman technology speaks for itself againexcellent value for money.

Great quality and cuts true and with ease.

I have not used a chain saw before so i took a chance on this one. I have cut loads of wood, mainly dry and fairly hard. I have used 5 litres of petrol and it has used about 3/4 litre of oil. I also need to sharpen the blade but i don’t mind considering the amount of wood i have cut. I don’t know how this compares to other saws but i am quite happy with it. It would be interesting to know how it compares with others.

Good quality, not as good as the stihl but for the price spot on.

Starts very consistently every time. Enough power to do jobs around garden including cutting oak. Reasonably good price/value.

Straightforward to put together, started easily(once i’d read instructions fully) and performing very well. Would highly recommend for the price.

Great little sawwould buy again everydaygot enough power even when cutting near size limit.

This chainsaw is my first, it has put up with a lot of hard work & it has had to put up with me & my mistakes, i cannot fault it, keep it & its air filter & it’s oiler clean & free after you use it, it will perform for you every time, stihl make chains to fit this too.

  1. Was not used for an few months due to time of year. First few times it started ok and cut brilliantly, after that i noticed chain oil was pouring out, even when not in use. Then a few days later tried to get it going, when it did start as soon as i put some revs in it it cut out. But this was only once in a while because most of the time it didn’t even fire up. End up stripping it down and for spares. In the end i brought a mitox chainsaw.

    1. Its ok cutting and handling, but. . On start up the chainsaw spins even though no throttle applied. It stops spinning when throttle applied and then released. This happens everytime, so definitely keep brake applied on start up as a normal safety procedure. From new the chain frequently became loose, sometimes a couple of cuts after tightening it again. This settled down after a couple of days of continuous use and then would remain tight. This may be normal for a new chain. However, the chain tightening system did not work.Had to take it apart each time to tighten the chain by the guide bar tightening screw.

I work in demolition so i am used to using sthil chainsaws. I bought this for home use because i didn’t want to pay sthil prices and to be fair it does just as good a job. I have used it to cut trees and 12×4 joists and it chews them for fun. It starts just like the instructions say. (two pulls with the choke out and two with it in)a good buy.

Bought this a couple of seasons ago and the first season it worked fine, by this i mean i cut my wood for the year in january and then it doesn’t really get used for 12 months, last season i had a few probably getting it going and more annoying was the fact the chain came off a few times. Well forget it the chain stays on for 5 minutes max, i’ve tried adjusting the tension, replacing the chain all a waste of time. So don’t waste yours buying this product would be my advice it gave me no more than 50 hours of work and that’s it.

    1. Having got this to review i now have two similar priced chainsaws the other being a nielsen one. And they are similar in build and design. Be honest here, given the cost you are not getting a high end pro-chainsaw. You are getting a tool that’s decent enough for the home user chopping a bit of wood once in a while. Now, i note that someone stated that this is a german made item but i’m not sure. I reckon this is chinese made and on the einhell website they say they design tools and manufacture some stuff in house. Making a chainsaw which is reasonable quality and at this price point suggests that it isn’t made in germany. That being said it seems a decent bit of kit. Compared to my nielsen this probably has a better chain and seems to be slightly less vibey.
