Bosch PSR 1440 LI-2 Cordless Drill Driver : Although this is sold at a good price, I am somewhat annoyed by the quality

Best purchase in a long time.

I got this in a half price deal at b&q and am delighted with it. Although i bought it with only occasional use in mind, it’s done much more work than expected – eg set-building – and has performed superbly. Afer two years of consistent use the battery doesn’t last quite as long as when new but that’s ok. This drill is compact so it gets into tight corners, and it has plenty of power and easily adjustable settings. Speed is easily controlled and the led light is very useful in dim areas. Drilling speed isn’t fast but good enough if your drill bits are in decent condition. Minor niggles: the double-ended acrewdriving bit they provide is good as far as it goes but more sizes would be useful. I’d also like somewhere on the drill to keep spare bits – the charger base has holes for bits but that’s not where the drill is. Overall, a great drill and perfect for normal diy use.

Bosch PSR 1440 LI-2 Cordless Drill Driver with 14.4 V Lithium-Ion Battery

  • 14.4 V lithium-ion battery technology – no memory effect, no self-discharge, always ready to use
  • Two speed high performance planetary gearbox, power transfer and high running smoothness
  • Torque pre-selection with integrated gear change – consistent power for every application
  • Three-stage charge level indicator
  • Keyless chuck with Bosch Auto-Lock for fast and easy bit changes

Not as powerful as expect on the drill side.

Used in anger on moving house and as a screwdriver its performance was brilliant after removing curtain rails – light fittings-wardrobe doors the whole nine yards and an hours recharge it was exceptional compared to other drill drivers i have used its the battery technology that impressed me,a quality item overall cant comment on the drilling aspect but on the driver its spot on.

I bought a cordless driver to simplify (no mains lead) now completed jobs around the garden. I originally considered the seemingly similar and less expensive bosch 1. 4 volt nicad battery driver but was put off by the battery problems experienced by some amazon reviewers. The liion driver is also a bit lighter. It is more powerful than i had anticipated so i have had no problems with it as a screwdriver. Pilot holes were drilled some of the time because (a) some jobs required screwing into hardwood, and (b) because my inexperience with power screwdrivers ensured my handiwork was reliably accurate. However, i have not yet used it as a drill with large bits, but have little doubt that it has sufficient power to cope. It is reasonably compact and is nicely balanced. The plastic surround ‘keyless’ chuck (the internal claws are metal) works well in spite of my pre-purchase doubts, and the torque settings are effective. It has a two speeds setting, and the trigger is sufficiently sensitive so one can start screwing/drilling at really low speeds.

Bosch PSR 1440 LI-2 Cordless Drill Driver with 14.4 V Lithium-Ion Battery : Top quality really well made and typically bosch, i love it.

I’m the sort of chap that can only really do light to medium diy jobs around the house, for example construction (bolting together) of ikea furniture and repairs to existing features, this suits me spot on and is genuine bosch. I purchased this together with a screw set also from bosch and is absolutely ideal. I was wondering how to obtain a second/spare battery but to be honest, one battery is enough (this is a drill driver only) and the charge is pretty quick. Glad i took the on-line advice of buying the lithium-ion battery and not the ni-cad versions, a little dearer but worth it.

Combined with a set of screwdriver and drills, i just love it as it can do lots of house-hold tasks quick and easy. Led light and battery indicator are also lovely, the only missing feature would be a magnetic band, to be able to keep the screws around. It come with battery half loaded, and it’s at 30% after several weeks of light usage, which is making it the perfect tool for home user.

Plenty of power with each charge. Much better than the other batteries.

Easy to use, easy to tighten chuck with one hand, good battery life. Wish i’d bought one years ago.

Although this is sold at a good price, i am somewhat annoyed by the quality of the product. I have used bosch power tools for more years than i can remember, and can honestly say that i have only ever had a few minor problems with one or two of them. This particular drill / driver suffers from a serious fault, a fault which in fact could be dangerous to the user. The chuck constantly works loose whilst in use.I have had the drill for around two months now, and rather stupidly thought that perhaps it would settle after some use. No matter how much i tighten the chuck, it always works loose allowing the drill bit to fall out. ( bosch psr 1440 li-2 cordless lithium-ion drill driver featuring syneon chip (1 x 14. On the good side, yes, it copes perfectly well with the smaller jobs required of it. It is light weight, sits well in the hand and is a joy to use. Maybe i have a ‘rogue’ model off the production line, who knows?. If you do purchase one, my advice would be to give it a good try out straight away, and above all else —keep the packaging just in case.
