Bosch AMW10 Electric Motor Unit 1000w 240v Multi Tool System, Good concept let down by a small design fault

Bought as the power unit for the hedge cutters. It’s noisy and quite heavy but certainly seems to work ok.

Good product and have since added various optional extras.

What a monster love it hard core garden tool.

“This is a God send
, Bosch AMW10 Multi-Tool
, Beware! Do not use the integrated hook.

This is the power unit for the long reach hedge cutter and as i said in my review it is very heavy if you are using it all day. The product is very powerful but combined with the cutter it does not extend as far as my old one and is far heavier.

Marvellous multi tool for the garden.

When the hedge cutter attachment is fitted is is hard to control. Only used it once and think i might have wasted my money buying it as normal hedge trimmers do the job although you need to use a ladder more, but you do anyway to trim the tops of conifers over 10ft high and 6 ft wide. Yes i did read all the reviews before i purchased it and thought it would be ok.

Have now been using for 2 years and have had no issues.

Bought to replace item that broke it drive after a few uses.

Very powerful and does a good job.

It is a bit heavy to use but is a useful tool. The main criticism is that the 3 plastic [design fault cutter arms on the strimmer attachment wear out very quickly [in an hours use] and need to be designed stronger. Occasionally they will detach themselves and ‘fly away’. ]

Very useful with the attachments that i already have.

First died after two years of hard use. Let’s hope this lasts longer.

Agree with all reviews here which say this an excellent piecce of kit with hedge trimmer or pole pruner attachments, but after about half an hour, you’re pretty tired from lugging it around.

Obviously you have to buy the cutter as this does not come as one piece. Remember (as i did not) that the combination of the two when cutting a high hedge, as i have to, that this becomes unwieldy and heavy. Not safe on an unanchored ladder or without someone holding on. Sturdy, though, with a powerful motor.

Bosch amw 10 multi-tool this tool is so much better than a petrol version which i bought from screwfix. I also bought 2 of the attachments.

Prune my trees with this during the summer i purchased the pruner and branch saw. I also got the extension pole from elsewhere so i could get to higher branches. Did the job i wanted to do very well.

Does the job i wanted – spot on.

I bought this to maintain he hedges around a 4. When used with either the chain saw, strimmer or hedge trimmer attachments you will not be disappointed in the ease of use. The only down side is that it is not light to use but there again it does do a heavyweight job perfectly.

I needed to replace one that i already had which broke. They have a shear pin which broke after about 2yrs. The whole unit with the attachments is very heavy. But, having said that the versatility when you have all three cutting heads is very good.

Was looking at petrol multi-tools. Glad i went electric as its a lot easier for doing a lot of short bursts of work, checking progress and starting up again. Usual bosch feel of a decent bit of kit. Used only with chainsaw attachment with and without pole extension so far. Will aim to get hedgecutter next.

Very useful but it is very heavy.

Replaced my old petrol model with this bosch, it’s brill, all my attachments fit so only needed the motor. It runs at a constant speed, is quiet and has enough power to run everything very well. I would definitely recommend it.

Purchased to use with the brushcutter attachment, it appears to be a well made and durable item, i used it for around 8 hours with no problem. Don’t understand complaints about the weight, it’s a heavy duty item, it should be expected, i didn’t use the strap and found with the brushcutter it was well balanced and not hard work.

Amazing piece of kit, i cannot fault it.

  1. Works very well how ever i think it was over priced as it was only the handle and engine when you can get the different garden tools for much less.

  2. Used it to cut the hedge 6 times and the drive shaft nolonger engages. Very disappointing, i wouldn’t recommend this product and consequently would never buy a bosch product ever again.

I bought the multi tool with chainsaw and hedge trimmer. It appeared to work well initially, but then the trigger mechanism broke. I took the hit, thinking i must have been using it too hard. Opened it up to see what was wrong and found flimsy plastic linkages in the trigger mechanism and a similar flimsy plastic housing for the linkage to the drive train. Because of the expense of the whole system, i then replaced the motor unit 2 years ago. I treated it delicately, trimming and a few 3-4 inch branches. The power unit has now broken again. With just no reaction when you try to use the trigger. It feels similar to the last episode though i haven’t looked at the damage. I bought bosch because it has a good name and other tools (drill) have been robust.

      1. So far this seems like a good motor. It is well enough made, balances well on the pole trimmer and, so far, seems good as a motor unit. My main concern is with regard to the attachments, and thus the system as a whole. I only have the hedge trimmer so far and it really isn’t very good. It is no better than complete pole trimmers with motors attached at less than the price of this motor in isolation. Accepted it isn’t noticeably worse but is it worth the extra if just for the one tool?i bought this system having killed a number of dedicated pole saws, and pole hedge trimmers and having a two stroke multi tool that (after 3 years ) refuses to start. My thoughts were, at least with this one if the motor dies in a couple of years i just need to replace the motor. Thus the comparable higher cost of buying the system should turn out cheaper in the long run. This might be a sound investment but not if the attachments are rubbish and are also going to fail. When you buy something more expensive than the cheaper option this should give you pleasure in use as you enjoy the way the more expensive tool does the job well.
