Read the reviews, bought it and like it. As they said, the direction switch is almost invariably knocked into neutral but it becomes second nature to correct it, the torque is good and the battery holds its charge well. The stand just has a ‘power on’ light and does not indicate when the driver is fully charged.
Really handy and packs away neatly.

I love this screwdriver – i got mine four months ago, and have used it many, many times since. I built a wooden bed (with many wood screws) recently and this screwdriver made the job much more pleasant. I’ve also used it for all sort of household fixes and bicycle maintenance. It’s certainly strong enough to crush wood if you were to over-tighten screws. But fortunately, it also had a selectable torque limit so you can have it only lightly tighten the screws before stopping/slipping. This is a really vital feature. I usually chose a low setting at first, and then gradually move to higher settings once i’ve seen how tightly the screw has gone in. On the ‘max’ setting, it can probably tighten things more that i could by hand. Since the motor is doing the work, you can focus on just pushing *in* rather than in-and-turning.
Really powerfull and holds its charge for ages.
This came in a silly presentation tin. Looked great but completely useless. I’ve had this for quite while now and can honestly say that for a diy person i cannot imagine a better cordless screwdriver. Pros:batteryadjustable drivinglightcomfortgood powercradlecons:bit accessory holder could be improvedpackaging.
BLACK+DECKER 3.6 V Lithium-Ion Cordless Screwdriver : Four features makes this screwdriver a great buy. Led lights that lights up the area around the screw. Retractable and magnetic screw holder that frees your other hand.
6v lithium-ion cordless screwdriveri purchased this after the charger on my black & decker vpx lithion died and the manufacturer had no spares. This has not got the power that the vxp had but it has a screw support which can double as a depth gauge plus it has a usefull led light to illuminate the work area. It is very useful and i can see it doing a lot of work in the future.
This is a nifty, easy to use cordless drill. It is perfect for smaller diy projects and general day to day use. The plus points are:- handy torque function;- handy retractable screw holder;- lightweight;- useful light comes on at the same time as the drill. The only reason i dropped a star was that the holder for the drill bits does not detach from the charging cradle, so you end up taking the cradle around with you to each job, rather that just the drill and the bits. In my experience this isn’t ideally suited to bigger jobs, but it isn’t advertised as a heavy duty tool.
This has been such a good buy, the battery holds its charge for ages unlike ni-cads and i have used it many times. Best price was here on amazon again beating e-bay. Great product you wont regret buying oneits now mid march 2013 and its still going great, hold charge for ages, very pleased great buy.
Good to keep the bits and charger that arrived with it safely and in one place. Although just a little less power than i remember my old version, never the less, this is a great tool, can do most jobs with it, great for making pilot holes too. Same old black & decker quality so cannot go too far wrong. I would recommend this cordless screwdriver.
Very powerful but torque can easily be adjusted. The tin it comes in is a little posh as well. Screwdriver also has a little led so you can see what you are screwing even in darkness.
I have used this several times now and i get more impressed with it everytime, putting up shelves in garage, 1 inch & 1. 5 inch screws into raw plugs, no problem or reversing them out or directly into wood, saves a layer of palm skin. The light is ideal in dark corners but only comes on when pulling trigger, might be better with a seperate switch. Also when pulling trigger you sometimes catch the directional switch. Overall, i would reccommend this screwdriver as a good mid-range screwdriver with enough torque for household jobs.
I have been using one of these recently (not bought from amazon uk as i’m in asia at the moment, but i will buy one for myself for sure when i get back to the uk, it’s added to my amazon ‘wish-list’) and i am hugely impressed. My old black & decker power screwdriver gave great service for many years and i eventually replaced it with a lithium bosch which was totally gutless. This one has much more torque to it (but less, i think, than my old b&d, which was geared much slower). I agree with the comments hereabouts about not bothering with a screwdriver with no torque limiting clutch, but my bosch needed no torque limiter because it had so little torque don’t mock the biscuit tin in which it is packaged .Too many tools these days come in a cardboard box that you will never be able to make practical use of for long-term storage. But perhaps the nice box is wasted on this item, this will sit out on the bench ready for frequent use, and not be packed away out of sight. I guess i have some drills with the forward/reverse switch in the same sort of place, so i am used to it and found no problems with accidentally moving it (even though i am a clumsy oaf).
I undertook a lot of research comparing this with more recent models in the b&d range and realised that this had all the performance of other models and was exceptional value, a fact confirmed by a b&d rep at a local store promotion. Arriving in a sturdy storage tin that also contains the charger and tool bits, the screwdriver requires, according to the manual, circa 8-9 hours charge before first use. As the charger unit light is illuminated whilst power is supplied to the charger, it is not possible to tell when the screwdriver is fully charged. The li-ion battery will however maintain its charge for an extremely long time and it is possible to keep the unit on charge if you so wish. Performance has been excellent and we have used this successfully on wood and lightweight concrete blockwork. If you wished to use it all day, every day or into dense masonry, than a combo screwdriver/hammer drill would serve better but as an everyday household tool we have found it invaluable. With a built in blue led light so you can see what you are doing in dark areas and also with a built in screw holder (not a gimmick, genuinely useful), this tool is a great all rounder and represents exceptional value. 4/5 with 1 star lost simply because the forward/reverse slider control is a little too easily knocked until you learn how to hold the device to avoid such,i would highly recommend this model. Indeed, relatives have just bought one after seeing our unit so it can’t be too bad.
I selected this cordless driver as a present for my son who works as a car mechanic. So far the driver has done it’s job well in a professional environment where it gets a lot of abuse.
Nice to use, yes the forward reverse toggle is easily hit and you have to keep checking which way it is going but a nice bit of torque for such a small tool.
Great versatile tool even at night with the little blue light powerful as well love it if you can say that about such a thing .
Perfect, just what i needed i have been so frustrated not having a piece of equipment like this and now i have it a real gem sturdy well put together and designed.
Great tool, very light and easy to use, gets in awkward places. Only fault is the extending slider that is meant to hold the drill bit steady is a little bit flimsy when fully extended.
This is a great little screw driver, had a earlier model that has lasted me years and was great, but this later model is fantastic. Old, and rather week in the arms, its great that it is light, and holds the screw for you. A very handy tool for all those little jobs around the home.
I bought this for my husband for christmas. He wanted an electric screwdriver but i was not sure if i had bought one that would do the jobs he wanted. He was delighted and thought the laser sight was a good idea. Hopefully i will have new shelves shortly.
I didn’t realise how useful this little tool could be until i bought it on impulse – it was a marketplace item i think, which meant that it had been returned by another purchaser. More fool themit may be small, but it powers in screws firmly – if you want them real tight, you can lock out the mechanism and then use the tool as a hand driver. I did wonder about that silly looking orange thing by the drill chuck. It holds your screw while you concentrate on operating the driver.
